Daytoy ti ili a Cervantes

My hometown, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, is a quiet yet remarkable place that holds both natural beauty and historical importance. Nestled in the highlands of the Cordillera region, it is blessed with cool weather, lush mountains, and refreshing rivers,Life in Cervantes is simple, but it is filled with the warmth of its people who are kind, hardworking, and always ready to extend hospitality to anyone who visits.

The town takes pride in its rich history, especially the Battle of Bessang Pass, a significant event during World War II that became a turning point in the liberation of the Philippines.

Today, the Bessang Pass Natural Monument stands as both a tourist attraction and a symbol of courage and heroism, reminding younger generations of the bravery of our forefathers. Aside from its history, Cervantes is surrounded by natural wonders—crystal-clear rivers like the Abra River, majestic waterfalls, and scenic mountain views that make the town an ideal destination for those who love nature and adventure.

The land is also fertile, and many of the people here are farmers, planting vegetables and crops that sustain not only the town but also nearby provinces. Festivals and local traditions are also celebrated with joy, highlighting the colorful culture and strong sense of community. What makes Cervantes truly special is that it combines the past and the present, nature and culture, simplicity and pride. Growing up here has taught me the value of resilience, unity, and appreciation for the blessings of life.
For me, Cervantes is more than just my hometown—it is my safe haven, my inspiration, and the place that will always remind me of where I truly belong.
