INTRAMURALS 2025 EXPERIENCE

Intramurals are not only a sport but a contributing factor to the whole development of a student. They foster teamwork, discipline, leadership, and school spirit among many other things. According to Ophea, “Intramurals are when students are provided with various purposeful opportunities to engage in fun, inclusive, and meaningful physical activities with other students at their school and outside of instructional time.” As a student of Tadian School of Arts and Trades (TSAT), I witnessed how intramurals helped students become more confident in expressing their talents and skills. This year’s theme, “Upholding Team Spirit and Unleashing the Fun through Sports,” perfectly embodied the morale and intent of the whole event.

The preparation phase was where we started out in Intramurals 2025. We were split into six teams: Unit 1 – Lumawig, Unit 2 – Wigan, Unit 3 – Lam-ang, Unit 4 – Gatan, Unit 5 – Bana, and Unit 6 – Anno. After knowing our teams, we started preparing our costumes, attending to attendance, and rehearsing for the highly anticipated cheering competition. We rehearsed our cheers for three consecutive days, which lasted two hours after our normal classes. A day before the event, we had the whole day to rehearse, complete our costumes, and arrange the details of our participation in the parade. The anticipation was growing, and everyone was set to give their best.

September 12, 2025, was the official opening of the Intramurals. It was finally the day everyone waited for. The program kicked off with a lively procession at approximately 7:30 in the morning. We paraded from Sitio Bebe to the TSAT Quadrangle, proudly cheering our team cheers to generate excitement and camaraderie. As we arrived at the school campus, the opening ceremony began with an invocation, after which the Lupang Hinirang and TSAT Hymn were sung. Next, a member of each unit’s muse and escort respectively unfurled their respective banners, with Team Bana having the best banner-raising presentation. Our school administrator, Mr. Jose A. Colod, delivered an inspiring message, stressing that intramurals are not just to compete but to learn to be disciplined and how to accept defeat. Following his speech, the event then proceeded with the TSAT Live Band performance, Lighting of the Torch by 2024 CARAA athletes, and Oaths of Amateurism and Officiating Officials.

Perhaps the most thrilling aspect of the day was the cheering competition. Being a proud member of Unit 1 – Team Lumawig, I couldn’t wait to perform with my team members. All six groups put their hearts out there, giving it their all as they yelled, moved, and formed their individual formations. The judges then declared the results after the performances. Team Lam-ang was the champion in cheering competition with a total of 95.2%, and our team, Team Lumawig, was close to 1st runner-up with 95%. We were not behind as much as we thought, yet we were still proud of what we did and still determined to compete for the overall championship. Not long after the program, the games were officially started. The events were ball games, combatives, track and field, cycling, Darts and chess. The first competition was volleyball, and despite the fact that I wasn’t very skilled at playing the sport volleyball, I played to show my support for my team. We played against Team Lam-ang, and even though we lost, it was an excellent learning experience. Their spikes and serves were excellent, but we played well and gave our best. But, when in men volleyball, is on the way for championship. We cheer, shout it loud the yell and support each other for overall championship this intramurals 2025. After the day, everyone headed home to rest and prepare for the second day of competition.

The following day, Saturday, September 13, the competition continued at 8:00 a.m. The volleyball game held in Mountain Province SchooI University (MPSU), we got the championship volleyball men, i felt guilty because i didn’t watch their game, but i congratulate them. I waited for my game, women’s sepak takraw, while observing the combatives competition. After the men’s competition, we were called in. I am happy to report that, Team Lumawig won the sepak takraw title against Team Lam-ang. After we won, I proceeded to the MPSU court to watch our men’s basketball team in action. Watching them play was emotional, especially when players had to be substituted due to leg cramps. When it started to rain, the game paused, giving them time to recover. Afterwards, we went back to the quadrangle to cheer for our teammates in combatives. I later returned home early so that I could get a ride, despite the matches still being in progress.

In all, I thank God for leading and protecting us during the activity. While some of the games were not finished, all participants were safe, and that was what counted most. Intramurals 2025 was not so much about winning or losing but about camaraderie, team-building, discipline, and memories to last a lifetime. I will always hold dear to my heart the experience and anticipate more activities such as this in the years to come.
