MANKAYAN🫶🌿

Mankayan, Benguet is my home, it is a place that I really admire because of its cool climate, beautiful mountain views, and rich culture. It is found in the Cordillera Administrative Region, up in the highlands of Benguet. What makes it special is not only its natural beauty but also its history and traditions. The people here, especially the indigenous Igorots, have preserved their way of life for many generations, and that gives Mankayan a strong sense of identity and community. It is composed of 12 barangay, Balili, Bedbed, Bulalacao, Cabiten, Colalo, Guinaoang, Paco, Palasaan, Poblacion, Sapid, Tabio, and Taneg.

Mankayan is surrounded by green mountains, rolling hills, and fertile land. One of the most important areas here is the Cada Plateau. This place is very well-known because it produces a lot of vegetables that are supplied not just in Benguet, but even in other provinces. That’s why agriculture plays a big role in the lives of the people here.

Economically, Mankayan is recognized as a mining town. Mining has been part of its history for a long time and has contributed a lot to the economy. But aside from mining, farming is also a major livelihood. Most residents are farmers, and thanks to the fertile soil and cool weather, they are able to grow vegetables that help supply different markets.

Mankayan also has many beautiful spots worth visiting. For nature lovers, there are places like Baangan and Madalipey view deck that is located in Am-am, Balili where you can enjoy the cool breeze, fresh air, and scenic views. We have also Golf that is found in Barangay Sapid. Cabiten’s longest bridge is also one of the tourist spots because of it’s 200 meter long and 200 meter high, it is known as the longest bridge in Benguet. Lastly, we have so many falls that worth visiting because of it’s beauty.

My hometown Mankayan is not just about its mines and farms—it’s a place full of life, culture, and natural wonders. It’s where tradition and modern life come together, and that’s what makes it truly unique.❤️
