How Does Technology Affect Your Life as a Student?

Technology is all around us, everywhere you look, everywhere you go, you will see them. As a student, technology plays a crucial role on how we learn, interact, and do our tasks at school. However, there must always be a balance in using them academically so that it will not be a cause to distraction and potential health challenges.
Furthermore, we all know by now that technology is a bridge to connection, to communication. We use social media to influence fellow schoolmates. We also use apps or online platforms to have virtual discussions with our teachers.
As previously mentioned, technology affects us students on how we learn. Many schools here in the Philippines aim to teach the students in this digital era by adapting and using televisions, laptops, pointers, microsoft suite, etc. to teach. For example, a teacher makes a powerpoint presentation and presents it using the television. While discussing, she uses a pointer to help him/her move around the classroom and ask his/her students questions thus, making the discussion interactive and visual learner friendly.
In addition, technology enhances our efficiency and productivity while at school. When doing research, we can do them faster by browsing, evaluating and gathering data online rather than using books. Digital tools like Capcut helps us edit video performances, we can also find alternative learning materials like youtube videos. There are also some apps out there that help us keep track of our assignments, schedule, and notes.
To sum up, technology has been and will continue to be fundamental in the aspect of education. Students need it to excell in their studies and communication skills. Once again, we as students should be reminded of the downsides in using technology in our academic lives. Do encourage others to use and promote technology, but let us not be overly dependent on them, after all, that is what Empowerment Technology is all about.
