How does AI affect us as Students?📲🤔
In this generation, many things have evolved and developed. One of these is our Technology. From only being able to read articles and having wired telephones to actually creating or publishing articles and having mobile phones. In this development, we now have robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is the technology that allows machines to simulate or imitate human intelligence. These can be in forms of applications, websites, or others. For example, Cici, Chat GPT, Meta AI, Gemini, Siri and many more. These are supposed to help us and make our lives easier. However, is it really helping us, for the better?

Positive Impacts
The emergence of AI has brought great contributions to our society, especially to students like me. Using AI in some learning platforms allows the contents to be adjusted for each learner’s learning capacity and performance. This ensures that they receive additional support in areas where they struggle and excel. AI tools can also provide translations, speech-to-text capabilities and vice versa, and adaptive learning materials. Students with disabilities can access an efficient and quality education with these. With the use of artificial intelligence learning has also become more interactive and enjoyable. Thanks to AI, finding relevant information and citing sources is now easier. Another benefit of AI is it’s capability to guide students in their learning and in their future. These can be through interactive exercises, personalized career recommendations, and skill development suggestions. We can benefit more with AI if it is used right.

Negative Impacts
As students, we tend to look for the easy way out. This results in frequent use of artificial intelligence, as well as overreliance and dependence on AI. These hinder students’ critical thinking and problem- solving skills. Because we may rely too much on AI, we can no longer think critically and solve difficult problems independently. This leads to academic dishonesty. Some students can take advantage and exploit advanced AI tools to cheat their way through education, diminishing the value and the true essence of learning. Overreliance on artificial intelligence can also reduce social interaction. Besides these, AI can sometimes require heavy personal information, risking students’ safety. Another one, not all students have the access to AI or technology which can result to educational inequalities. Technical issues, bias, and other concerns can also be observed when using AI, since it is not perfect and is programmed by humans.

Artificial intelligence or AI has both positive and negative effects on us students, depending on how we use it. The points given above highlight the complex relationship between AI and education, emphasizing the need for balanced implementation and critical consideration of its effects. It is great to cope up with today’s technology, but do not let it take away our ability and right to think for ourselves. Seeking AI’s assistance is not bad, however it should be in moderation. We are not limited to Artificial intelligence. We can also ask for help from our friends, fellow students, family, and our teachers. Remember that too much of anything is not good. So, as students, let us learn to use resources around us responsibly. Do not let AI use you, use AI for the better!

The potential benefits of Artificial Intelligence are huge, so are the dangers.
